Tom of Finland is a cult illustrator (1920 - 1991). Born Touko Laaksonen in 1920, he was a pioneering Finnish artist celebrated for iconic and revolutionary contributions to homoerotic art. Tom of Finland is recognised for his stylised and hyper-masculine depictions of men, which played a crucial role in challenging societal norms and advocating for LGBTQ+ visibility, shaping gay culture and contributing to positive and affirming imagery.
