Tom of Finland is a cult illustrator (1920 - 1991). Tom of Finland, born Touko Laaksonen in 1920, was a pioneering Finnish artist celebrated for his iconic and revolutionary contributions to homoerotic art. Widely recognised for his stylised and hyper-masculine depictions of men, Tom of Finland's work played a crucial role in challenging societal norms and advocating for LGBTQ+ visibility, shaping gay culture and contributing to positive and affirming imagery. Today, Tom of Finland's legacy lives on through the Tom of Finland Foundation, established in 1984, which supports and promotes erotic art while preserving his vast body of work.
