Tom of Finland was a cult illustrator (1920 - 1991) and a pioneering Finnish artist celebrated for iconic and revolutionary contributions to homoerotic art. Tom of Finland is recognised for his stylised and hyper-masculine depictions of men, which played a crucial role in challenging societal norms and advocating for LGBTQ+ visibility, shaping gay culture and contributing to positive and affirming imagery.
Today, his legacy lives on through the Tom of Finland Foundation, established in 1984, supporting and promoting art while preserving his vast body of work.
